A methodology built on solid scientific foundations
More than 30 years of clinical practice. A method structured around mechanisms studied by science.
The ODASTRA method grew out of more than 30 years of practice by our co-founder, a clinical psychologist and addiction specialist, alongside people facing trauma, addiction, emotional wounds, repeating patterns and deeply ingrained behaviors.
This hands-on experience gradually gave rise to a structured method, now adapted into an audio experience that is accessible to as many people as possible.
ODASTRA builds on scientific mechanisms that have been studied for decades in psychology and neuroscience.
In particular, the ODASTRA method draws on knowledge related to:
Memory and learning.
Our history gradually shapes associations, reactions and automatic behaviors that can go on influencing the way we act.
Emotional memory.
Some experiences can remain tied to a strong emotional charge and keep triggering reactions long after the original event.
Automatic behaviors and learned patterns.
Some of our reactions can fire very quickly, sometimes before we have even consciously decided how we want to act.
Memory reconsolidation.
When an already consolidated memory is reactivated under certain conditions, it can temporarily become open to change again before being stabilized once more.
It is one of the core mechanisms around which Transformation sessions are built.
Research on memory reconsolidation
Foundational work published by Karim Nader, Glenn Schafe and Joseph LeDoux, among others, showed experimentally that reactivating a fear memory could send it into a new phase of stabilization, known as reconsolidation.
Later research in humans explored the possibility of updating certain emotional memories by introducing new information during this reconsolidation window.
Research also shows that reconsolidation depends on precise conditions: the way the memory is reactivated, and the introduction of new or unexpected information, play a decisive role.
This is precisely why the ODASTRA method rests on an extremely structured architecture.
- The words
- The order
- The repetitions
- The emotional sequences
- The silences
- The new information introduced during the process
Every element has a purpose within the experience.
The aim is to create the conditions for a different experience, right within the audio session.
Audio as a medium for guided experience
Scientific research has examined the use of guided audio experiences in several areas of psychology and well-being, including mental imagery, relaxation, hypnosis and mindfulness.
Several studies and scientific reviews show that structured interventions, delivered as audio recordings or mobile apps, can produce measurable effects on certain indicators of well-being and emotional regulation.
This body of work illustrates the potential of audio as a medium for self-guided support. It concerns protocols that are distinct from the ODASTRA method.
- You choose your session.
- You put on your headphones.
- You listen.
The process lives within the audio.
ODASTRA turns complex mechanisms from psychology, memory and learning into an experience that is deliberately simple to use.
A precise method.Clearly identified scientific foundations. An experience open to everyone.
